Determined to change lives and create opportunities!

The first pilot (people above) was undertaken in partnership with Community Lives and the Time to Meet Group in Swansea.

Alpha Trust  was established in 2010 as an umbrella organisation that includes a number of member organisations, groups and like-minded individuals working together to help, enable and encourage others to flourish with their communities within a context of training, social enterprise and collective cooperation. The Trust’s goal is to provide a framework to facilitate, and bring to fruition, charitable projects.

The Assemblers is a project under The Trust umbrella which will assist Participants with learning and other disabilities by providing access to work experience as volunteer workers and to paid employment.   The Assemblers will use sub-contracting light assembly work as a vehicle to fulfil the company’s social objectives: providing training and employment to Participants, addressing barriers to employment, addressing issues of poor self-esteem and low confidence, and giving Participants a sense of purpose, being valued, financial inclusion/independence and life choice. Participants may secure longer term appointments with The Assemblers or may be able, as a result of the experience gained, to secure alternative employment outside The Assemblers. Participants provide The Assemblers with a specialised well-trained team to fulfil the commercial operational needs.

The Assemblers will, without doubt, have a social impact and be of benefit to the community for the following reasons: -
  • To ensure that people who are vulnerable due to their limited cognitive ability, learning or physical disability have an opportunity to become part of an increasing and growing need for biometric products and systems in the UK and beyond.
  • To become a role model and a shining example that technology manufacture and assembly can be undertaken by them, productivity proved beyond perceived limitations by other members of the community.
  • To create a platform where they have independence via employment
  • To create and sustain employment and improve the training opportunity for this group in an emerging industry
